Entrepreneur and digital financial services professional who is passionate about technology and building businesses in Africa. Lebo founded a shoe company, Budi Shoes in 2010 and later led mobile payments strategies in different emerging markets.
Lebo has worked for Deloitte, VISA and Gemalto and her passion for technology started with helping companies to protect their information as an information security consultant at Deloitte.
She then assisted clients in emerging markets to develop mobile product solutions for the unbanked. Her role in Visa Emerging Markets Digital afforded her the opportunity to commercialize mobile money products for banks in Pakistan and Nigeria, telcos in Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Malawi and assist regulators with their financial inclusion mandate in various African markets.
Lebo has also been part of an agtech startup in Kenya that developed a virtual marketplace for smallholder farmers to access loans and agriculture products using their mobile phones.
Lebo served on the board of Transaction Junction, a subsidiary of Blue Label Telecoms, Pamodzi Group, an investment company; and Village Capital Advisory Board, a VC that invests in entrepreneurs in emerging markets. Lebo coached fintech startups in the 2017 Village Capital fintech programme and 2017 SWIFT Innotribe progamme.
